Simplot safety program draws praise
The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has presented its highest award for safety to the Simplot Company’s Conda Pump Station for the 11th consecutive year.

"It is very impressive that the Conda Pump Station has been able to maintain for 11 years the demanding standards required to earn this award," said Richard Terrill, OSHA's regional administrator in Seattle. "This achievement clearly reflects the Simplot Company’s continuing commitment to strong safety and health programs."

More than 1,600 sites representing 270 industries are involved in the annual competition. Those receiving the highest honors typically achieve injury and illness rates that are 50 percent below nationwide averages.

The Conda Pump Station receives phosphate ore slurry from Simplot’s Smoky Canyon Mine in southeastern Idaho and boosts the pressure of the slurry for transit through an underground pipeline to the company’s Pocatello fertilizer manufacturing plant for processing.
